Bernina Express - Tirano - St Mortitz
The famous Bernina Train connects the stations of Tirano (Valtellina, Italy) and St. Moritz (Switzerland), passing through lush valleys and alongside majestic glaciers. It has been recently recognised as a World Heritage Site.
The route starts at an altitude of 430 m, reaching a height of 2255m (the Bernina Pass), and then descends to St. Moritz (1775 m). The modern railway route is open all year (even in the snow) and thanks to the panoramic carriages (in the summer), you will enjoy breathtaking mountain views, crystal clear lakes, glaciers and beautiful woodland.
This railway is unique in terms of gradient and altitude. It was inaugurated in 1910 and today continues to offer a different, engaging perspective on its alpine setting.
